Her pots are thrown in red and white earthenware clay and hand-painted in bright colours. Her designs are inspired by nature, gardens, flowers, landscapes, the seaside, material patterns, and patchwork quilts. Kate is also influenced by Folk Art from many countries around the world.
Kate produces a wide range of functional and decorative ceramics from hanging decorations and egg cups to large bowls and bread crocks.
At Christmas and Easter time, a whole variety of hanging decorations are available.
A popular range Kate has produced is a delightful selection of individual hand-made mugs, teapots, jugs and sugar bowls, no two ever being the same!
Kate trained in Farnham at the West Surrey College of Art and Design where she finished her degree in 1977
After gaining work experience for a well-known slipware potter in Godalming she started her own workshop in 1981 in the Chichester area.
In the past, Kate has exhibited with various galleries and ceramic groups. She also spent many years exhibiting and selling her work at the Spring and Christmas Country Living Fairs in London.
She now mainly exhibits with the Sussex Guild ( www.thesussexguild.co.uk ) and will be at all the shows that are able to go ahead in 2021.
Kate has work permanently displayed and for sale at the Sussex Guild shop and gallery in Lewes, where she also takes part in special exhibitions there during the year as part of the Artwave trail in September and a Christmas exhibition.
